Branson Convention Center Set To Hold Futsal Tournament

This January the Branson Convention Center will be filled with the sounds of cheers, ball kicks and blocked goals. At first glance you might think it’s a soccer tournament, but you’d be wrong…its Futsal.
January 10 and 11, 2015 the FC Legacy presents the 2015 Branson Shootout Futsal Tournament at the Branson Convention Center. Futsal is extremely similar to soccer, but only allows for 5 people on the court for each team, along with other rule variations.
The Branson Shootout Futsal Tournament is a 5v5 futsal format and is open to boys’ and girls’ teams – U8-High School and has a roster limit of 10 per team. Registration can be completed on the organizer’s website www.fclegacy.org.
“Sporting events like futsal are great for the Convention Center and the entire area during the winter months,” said Branson Convention Center General Manager Marc Mulherin. “This tournament will attract dozens of teams and those teams will spend their down-time during the tournament around Branson, which will add to the winter economy.”
The Branson Shootout Futsal Tournament is a fundraiser for the FC Legacy. The FC Legacy’s purpose is to give each player a solid soccer skill foundation, an opportunity to play at a higher level and to encourage a sense of community responsibility. Funds from the tournament will also go to The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and Convoy of Hope. The registration fee for this tournament is $275 per team.
