Our Take on the 2014 Meeting Trends

The way meetings are conducted these days represents a constant evolution in our industry.  How are planners taking into account what their attendees want? What can prospective destinations expect from planners this year? And, what are planners doing to refresh the experience?

If you do a quick Google search on meeting trends for 2014, you’ll find a wealth of varying input and opinion on what’s ahead. Below we’ve compiled a few that we find most notable.

Condense and Streamline

More than ever before, planners are searching for an all-inclusive meeting and amenities experience.  Let’s see how much we can roll into one in order to maximize outcome without maximizing the budget. Accommodating room block, on-site parking, easy commute and access to city, plus top tier technology options? You got it.

Let’s Stay Regional

Planners and attendees are aiming for the short haul these days. With the increase in the number of meetings, albeit shorter and more focused, no longer is it necessarily standard to book the entire week and hop on a plane. Instead, they’re heading for a delivery in smaller doses to increase efficiency. Research all there is to offer in your region and you’re guaranteed to make a discovery. Consider it a stay-cation?

Technology and Participation

What are people going to remember most? Certainly not a PowerPoint. People consume information more effectively if they’re allowed to interact. It’s time you present that information in a way that’s memorable. Engagement with the audience is key. Put together an overall production that involves your attendees from the time they arrive.

Collaboration is key when it comes to planning your event. Work with a team that understands your goals and has the solutions in place to achieve them.

How are you planning to refresh your approach to planning this year? Are there any trends you plan to adopt?
